McLAREN RACING ANNOUNCES NEW MULTI-YEAR TECHNICAL PARTNERSHIP WITH TEZOS
McLaren Racing has selected Tezos, the world’s most advanced blockchain, to become the team’s Official Technical Partner in a new multi-year technical partnership across Formula 1, INDYCAR and esports. McLaren will use the energy efficient and upgradeable Tezos network to create a non-fungible token (NFT) platform with fan experience at the heart. Tezos, an open source blockchain for assets and applications, is a continuously evolving blockchain that upgrades itself through efficient on-chain governance. Read more...
ANDY MURRAY LAUNCHES FRENCH OPEN CLOTHING RANGE WITH CASTORE
The AMC Stade range is a collaboration between Britain’s greatest player ever, Andy Murray, and performance sports clothing brand Castore, inspired by the French Open. Andy Murray teamed up with Castore a few years ago and the former Wimbledon champion has always been vocal about his interest in fashion. On working with Castore he has said, “It’s important that the kit performs under the toughest conditions, I really enjoy testing it, giving my feedback and being part of the design process.” Read more...
L'ORÉAL PARIS LAUNCHES AWARD FOR WOMEN IN CINEMA
L’Oréal Paris announced on Tuesday the launch of the Lights on Women Award, which will honour one rising female filmmaker. Coinciding with the 74th Festival de Cannes, the award is in partnership with the Short Films competition of the Festival de Cannes and aims to encourage promising directors to pursue their creative ambitions, and provide funding that will empower women in overcoming the obstacles that they encounter. The winner of the inaugural Lights On Women Award will receive financial support of up to 30,000€. Read more...
NFL EXPLORING MINORITY SALE OF MEDIA BUSINESS
Goldman Sachs has been hired by the league to explore various options for the league’s media properties, including the sale of one or more minority stakes in the business, according to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ). The WSJ report adds that the decision from the NFL to seek partners is motivated by the league’s belief that its TV and digital holdings will benefit from being aligned with bigger media and technology companies, as opposed to continuing as standalone operations. The NFL informed team owners of the plans in a letter sent on 23rd June, according to the WSJ. Read more...

The second World Sports Photography Awards 2021 has announced 26 of its winners in numerous individual sporting categories, showcasing the power of sports photography to tell stories and promote an emotional response in viewers.Because the coronavirus pandemic had such an enormous impact on sports, and therefore sports photography, the World Sports Photography Awards asked participants to dig deep in their archives and opened the pool to any image captured in the past 25 years. SNAPCHAT AND KICK IT OUT LAUNCH AR STATUES OF BLACK FOOTBALLERS
Ahead of the UEFA EURO 2020, Augmented Reality statues of four of England’s greatest Black footballers have been unveiled and photographed at Wembley alongside the statue World Cup winning England Captain Bobby Moore.The move is part of a partnership between Kick It Out and Snapchat, as they aim to celebrate Black footballers in England through AR ahead of the tournament. INCREASE IN JAPANESE SPECTATOR NUMBERS OFFERS HOPE TO TOKYO 2020 AND TOURISM
Japan looks set to allow up to 10,000 spectators to attend events at this year’s Olympic Games in Tokyo with the lifting of strict coronavirus restrictions.The capital is one of the areas of the country under a state of emergency, with attendance at sports events limited to 5,000, or 50 per cent of a venue’s capacity.The Tokyo 2020 organising committee is due to make a decision later this month on whether domestic fans can be present at events at the games, which were postponed from last year because of the Covid-19 pandemic. SWIFT TO SPONSOR NEW WOMEN'S TOUR DE FRANCE IN 2022
Zwift has announced it will become the presenting sponsor of the women’s Tour de France on a four-year partnership beginning in 2022. The inaugural edition of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift has been added to the Women’s WorldTour and is scheduled to start on July 24, 2022 on the Champs-Élysées in Paris.“This is a huge moment for professional women’s cycling," said double world champion Anna van der Breggen (SD Worx).
