English Football clubs withdraw from European Super League

New study shows women's sport can generate £1bn per year by 2030

Revenue generated by women's sport in the UK is projected to grow to £1bn a year by 2030 – up from £350m a year currently – according to data released by the Women’s Sport Trust and data and insight agency Two Circles.The pair released the projections as part of the release of ‘Closing the Visibility Gap’, a new study into the commercial drivers of women’s sport in the UK, while the organisations also say the ‘key’ unlocking growth is ‘increased visibility’ of female athletes and teams.  Read more...






LVMH, Richemont and Prada unite behind a blockchain consortium

Three rival names in the European luxury sector have established a new blockchain consortium that will allow shoppers to track the provenance of their purchases and authenticate goods. LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, which first unveiled plans for a global blockchain-based system in 2019, will be joined by Prada Group and Compagnie Financière Richemont in the Aura Blockchain Consortium, a nonprofit group that will promote the use of a single blockchain solution open to all luxury brands worldwide. Read more...




Formula 1 announces 10-year deal for new Grand Prix in Miami

Formula 1 has announced it will add a new Miami Grand Prix to its calendar in 2022 as pat of a 10-year deal to bring the sport back to the US state of Florida. A new racing layout will be installed at the Hard Rock Stadium complex, the home of NFL franchise Miami Dolphins, with the first race expected to take place in the second quarter of 2022.  Read more...







IOC makes biggest esports statement yet with launch of Olympic Virtual Series

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has made its biggest stride yet into the world of esports with the launch of the Olympic Virtual Series (OVS). Five sports - baseball, cycling, rowing, sailing and motorsport - have signed-up for the mass participation initiative which will begin on May 13 ahead of the rearranged Tokyo 2020 Olympics. According to the IOC, the OVS will "mobilise virtual sport, esports and gaming enthusiasts all around the world in order to reach new Olympic audiences". Read more...





Amazon signs Williams and Pogba documentary deals

Amazon Studios has signed a first-look TV deal with 23-time Grand Slam tennis champion, Serena Williams, as well as announcing a deal with Paul Pogba for a new documentary. Williams will work with Amazon Studios to create both scripted and unscripted projects that will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, beginning with an as-yet untitled docu-series that follows her in both her professional and personal life. Produced by UK pair Plum Pictures and Goalhanger Films, with Amazon Studios, the series will be executive produced by Serena Williams and her coach Patrick Mouratoglou, as well as Stuart Cabb and Tony Pastor. Read more...





Maserati & David Beckham team up for new campaign

Maserati has announced David Beckham as an ambassador, enlisting the former England captain to front a new ad campaign. The pair have come together for the first time in a new short film puts Beckham into a Levante Trofeo in Miami, where he revels in doing a series of donuts in the supercar instead of attending a full day of business meetings. Directed by Harmony Korine, the ad aims to ‘capture emotions beyond appearances’ revealing Beckham’s ‘daring rebellious spirit’, as well as the brands tagline the Art of Fast. Read more...



Bucherer expands into Covent Garden, adds pre-owned in UK

Watches specialist Bucherer is continuing its drive into the UK with the opening of a new flagship boutique in Covent Garden, London.It worked with international architect Blocher Partners to create a “new concept design that compliments and respects the heritage surroundings”. LTA and TikTok partner for platform's first ever live sporting event

TikTok and The LTA have announced a new partnership which will see the Billie Jean King Cup become the first live sporting event streamed on the social media platform. The competition - the renamed Fed Cup - will host a series of play-off ties this weekend for a place in the qualifiers for the 2022 Billie Jean King Cup Finals, with Great Britain taking on Mexico over two days on Friday 16th April and Saturday 17th April. Across the course of the weekend, action from the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton will be streamed live on the @LTA channel on the platform. Read more...
