World's biggest film festivals unite for 10-day streaming event
More than 20 film festivals around the world have joined together to stream movies for free on YouTube after the coronavirus pandemic closed cinemas and forced the cancellation of annual showcases in Cannes and New York. The 10-day We Are One: A Global Film Festival will feature content curated by the Berlin, Cannes, Sundance, Toronto, Tribeca and Venice film festivals, among others, starting on 29 May, the organisers Tribeca Enterprises and YouTube said in a statement on Monday. Formula One and AWS collaborate for virtual machine learning event
Formula One has teamed up with Amazon Web Services (AWS), its official cloud and machine learning partner, to create a virtual event that will see professional racers compete against amateur developers from around the world. The F1 ProAm DeepRacer event, which will run throughout the month of May, will be a one-off contest as part of the AWS DeepRacer League, a competition that sees developers build and train machine learning models that compete in monthly virtual races. 'Vogue' to Host Virtual Met Gala Event on YouTube
With the Met Gala 2020 postponed indefinitely, Vogue will instead be hosting its virtual alternative, A Moment With the Met.Scheduled to livestream on YouTube on May 4, A Moment With the Met will feature an address from Vogue editor-in-chief and Met Gala co-chair Anna Wintour, a performance by Florence + The Machine and a DJ set by Virgil Abloh. William Byron wins ‘eNASCAR Finish Line 150’ at virtual Dover International Speedway
William Byron passed Timmy Hill with less with six laps remaining, then held off Christopher Bell by .301 seconds at the finish May 3 to win the “eNASCAR Finish Line 150” at the first Pro Invitational Series race at the virtual Monster Mile. It was Byron’s third Pro Invitational Series win of the spring, joining his victories at virtual Bristol and virtual Richmond. The “eNASCAR Finish Line 150” is the final event of the six-race Pro Invitational Series schedule at NASCAR tracks where races were postponed earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
